I’ve been moving in the midst of this virus madness. Yep, why not tackle moving, social distancing, working from home and schooling children all at the SAME. TIME. Who does this??? Someone check my sanity.
While I was packing and unpacking, I came across lots of forgotten writing. (Side note: it’s amazing how much junk you can accumulate in 14 years)
This one struck me pretty hard today so I thought I’d share. I had it dated for February 2016. It’s interesting to go back and read previous thoughts, journals, stories etc. Gives you insight to your frame of mind in any given point in your life.
I heard the greatest thing today. Something that I desperately needed to hear.
I’ve been in a rut and really struggling with some things that are better left in the past. I’m so exhausted from them creeping up and making their way into my present and holding me back.
So when the pastor said this in the Sunday service I just knew it was meant for me…
“You have to step out of your history to achieve your destiny.”
Not sure if this was a quote he has heard elsewhere or something he came up with on his own, but I had never heard it before.
And when he said it this morning it was like a punch to the gut. Like uh yeah, that one was aimed right for me.
Learning to let go and not be burdened and defined by what has happened in my past has turned out to be far more of a struggle than I had ever imagined possible. It is ingrained in my brain and can even effect some of the choices I make to this day.
Everyone has something that they struggle with, some more than others, but on some level we can all relate.
The past is just life lessons preparing us for the future. We were not meant to dwell on the past and become miserable. We are here to live the fullest life we possibly can and that is not possible when we are stuck in our history.
I plan on achieving my destiny one step at a time. Everyday I want to wake up with the intention of getting closer and closer to the person I choose to be, not what someone else made me feel I was.
